Learn to make 2 types of socks
Camas Creek Yarn offers two sock classes for knitters in May.
Socks 101 on two circular needles will be taught in two sessions.
One session runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. May 15, 22 and 29. The other takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 17, 24 and 31.
The sessions each cost $45 for three classes.
Knitters already should have strong basic skills, including long tail cast on, basic ribbing and simple decreases. The technique in the class uses fewer joins, less hand coordination, is easier to keep track of and is more portable than using double-pointed needles. The class will also teach knitters the anatomy of a sock and tricks to simplify working in the round.
Flip-flop socks will be offered from 1 to 2:30 p.m. May 18 and 25 and June 1. The cost is $45, and knitters should come to class with strong basic skills, including long tail cast on, basic ribbing and simple decreases, as well as beginning-level sock experience.
These socks, also called tabi socks, allow you to wear flip-flops in any weather by way of a sandal-friendly separated big toe. The workshop will teach knitting socks on two circular needles and how to transition to double-pointed needles for the toes.
