Softball: Flathead demolishes Whitefish
WHITEFISH — It took some time, but Flathead’s bats started rolling in the fourth inning and exploded in the sixth to push the Bravettes past Whitefish 17-4 in a nonconference game on Tuesday at Smith Fields.
The Bravettes scored 15 runs in the last three innings to top the Bulldogs in six innings. Five different batters picked up multiple hits for Flathead.
“A lot of girls got to play and a lot of girls came up with hits,” Flathead coach Ashley Fusaro said.
The Whitefish girls got four hits and trailed just 9-4 before Flathead’s big sixth inning, when the Bravettes scored eight runs. Bulldog freshman Abby Reese was 2 for 2 from the plate.
“She’s pretty new to the game,” Whitefish coach Carrie Lamb said. “She steps up (to the plate) naturally. She hit two nice line drives.”
Each team gets back on the field on Thursday. Flathead is in Missoula to play Big Sky and Sentinel. Whitefish heads down for a game at Stevensville.
