Commissioners extend time for public comments
<p>Lisa Sheppard, director of the Agency on Aging, faces a meeting with county commissioners today to determine whether she will keep her job.</p>
The Flathead County commissioners have extended their public comment segment this morning to 45 minutes to handle an expected deluge of public input about a personnel matter later in the day with Agency on Aging Director Lisa Sheppard.
The commissioners will take public comment from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in their chambers on the third floor of the main courthouse.
Comments will be taken not only on Aging on Aging-related items but on any matter of county concern.
Sheppard is scheduled to meet with the commissioners at 1:30 p.m. Today is the last day of her six-month probationary period and the commissioners will decide whether or not to keep her as a county employee.
Sheppard has asked that the meeting be open to the public, but no public comment will be taken during her meeting with the commissioners.
Sheppard, 47, relocated to Flathead County last fall from Austin, Texas. She replaced longtime Agency on Aging Director Jim Atkinson, who was fired in February 2012.
