Would-be car thieves become vandals
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Sunday regarding a break-in at a barn on Foy’s Canyon Road. The perpetrators attempted to steal two vehicles, but ended up vandalizing them instead, along with causing damage to the barn and a gate.
A person calling from an Overlook Trail residence reported having unwanted guests at a party over the weekend who were stealing items from the house.
There was a report of a loud disturbance between a man and a woman on Rockwood Road.
A person reported witnessing two teenage girls spraying graffiti at a tunnel along the Kalispell bypass.
A person calling from Shady Lane reported the theft of a laptop computer.
Just after midnight Monday, there was a report of a motor vehicle accident on U.S. 93 South involving a driver who was attempting to leave the scene but couldn’t because his truck was stuck against another vehicle. The man, who was being belligerent and yelling at the reporting party, ended up getting arrested for drunken driving.
There was a report of an intoxicated man beating a woman in the Marion area. The woman was transported to a Kalispell hospital for treatment, and the incident is under investigation.
Kalispell Police got a report Sunday regarding three unwanted skateboarders at a business on Airport Road. The skaters were advised to stay off the property.
There was a report of a vicious dog that damaged the door of a home on Parkway Drive as it attempted to get at the reporting party’s dogs.
Just before 1 a.m. Monday, a West Arizona Street resident reported that someone was in his backyard, but the subject had run toward the fairgrounds. Then a Seventh Street West resident reported that someone was outside, knocking over garbage in the yard.
A man reported that his ex-girlfriend struck him in the jaw and pushed him down some stairs at a hotel on East Idaho Street.
There was a report of cash and a computer stolen from a car on Fourth Avenue East. The car’s windshield was smashed in as well.
Whitefish Police got a report Sunday about a transient sleeping in front of a bar on Baker Avenue. The transient was told to leave city limits.
There was a report of two other homeless people sleeping on private property on Riverside Avenue, and they were also told to leave town.
There was a report of two bicycles stolen from a front porch on Iowa Avenue, but the bikes were later recovered on Wisconsin Avenue.
There was a report of an intoxicated man asking people for money outside a restaurant on U.S. 93 South.
A woman calling from Baker Avenue reported that someone threw a rock at her house’s picture window.
After a woman backed into another vehicle and then fled, she was located on Wisconsin Avenue and arrested for drunken driving.
Columbia Falls Police got a report Sunday regarding an unwanted and intoxicated man at a restaurant on U.S. 2. The man ended up leaving on his own.
A 72-year-old woman reported getting repeat phone calls from a man who says he knows her and asking to speak with her 12-year-old child, who she doesn’t have.
