A Hamilton man is heading back to prison after violating his sentence for felony sexual assault.

William Lee Kubu, 36, was sentenced April 22, 1999, to 20 years of probation for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 1997.

That sentence was to run consecutively with a Ravalli County sentence of seven years in prison and three years of probation on a theft case.

On June 20 of this year, Kubu admitted violating the terms of that sentence. During a sentencing hearing July 25, District Judge Ted Lympus re-sentenced Kubu to 16 years in prison.

In addition, he ordered that Kubu be parole-restricted until he completes phases one and two of the sex offender program.

Kubu is a level three sex offender, indicating he has a high risk of a repeat sex offense, is a threat to public safety and is labeled a sexually violent predator.
