Drum Brothers plan Kila retreat
Drum Brothers host their annual Montana Outdoor Rhythm Retreat Aug. 16 through 18.
The event takes place at Montanagua Sanctuary near Kila.
The retreat features morning song circles, West African hand-drumming classes for all levels, drum making and evening celebrations (get ready to drum, dance, and sing). The retreat also includes afternoon free time to relax, hike and connect with friends.
Drum makers will be building a 12- by 24-inch Ashiko drum. This dynamic and powerful hand drum is ideal for playing a variety of world rhythms. Extra drums will be available for new drummers.
The retreat begins with a meal at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and will continue until 3 p.m. Aug. 18.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to register early to ensure a place. A $75 deposit will reserve a slot; the remainder is due when the retreat begins.
Prices range from $225 for rhythm exploration to $395 for drum building.
Those who bring along a friend for their first Drum Brothers retreat will receive a 10 percent discount.
