Paving will begin Monday on Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road between Avalanche and Logan creeks.

Visitors can expect delays of 20 minutes at the work zone for paving that is expected to take about a week, depending on weather. A pilot vehicle will be used for traffic control.

People visiting the Trail of the Cedars or the trail to Avalanche Lake may encounter congested traffic and parking. Rehabilitation work on Sun Road continues on the east side of the park, between Rising Sun and Siyeh Bend, where visitors can also expect a maximum 20-minute daytime delay.

Crews are working 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday, east of Logan Pass.

There is no access 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday between Rising Sun and Siyeh Bend, but Logan Pass can be reached from the west side of the park.

Sun Point, located on the east side, is closed to the public because it is being used as a staging area for construction. The Sun Point picnic area and restroom facilities are not available and the park shuttle system no longer stops at that location.

It’s expected that Sun Point will remain closed for the next few years.
