An open house to take public comments on a corridor plan in the works for U.S. 93 West in Whitefish will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Whitefish City Hall.

The event runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The city of Whitefish has contracted with WGM Group and Sitescape Associates to prepare a corridor plan focusing on future land use for U.S. 93 West from Miles Avenue to the Mountainside Drive area.

The corridor is the gateway entrance into Whitefish from the north and includes a mix of uses including various residential and commercial properties.

The highway currently is being reconstructed by the state to make infrastructure and road improvements, including a new bridge over the Whitefish River.

The open house is part of an ongoing public process that includes a project steering committee and three more public involvement meetings.

These will include a stakeholder initial vision input/design meeting, summary of findings/plan alternatives feedback meeting and preferred draft plan presentation and implementation strategies meeting, according to a press release from the Whitefish Planning Department.

The additional public involvement meetings tentatively are scheduled from September to November.

Steering committee meetings also are open to the public.

The next meeting is Monday, Aug. 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Whitefish City Hall. The dates and times of these meetings are subject to change.
