Man accused of shooting his wife
A Kalispell man is facing a charge of attempted deliberate homicide after allegedly shooting his wife multiple times late Monday night.
Steven Michael Foley, 39, is currently incarcerated in the Flathead County Detention Center on the preliminary charge.
Kalispell police responded to Foley’s Sixth Avenue West home shortly before 11 p.m. Monday after receiving a call from his ex-wife, who said Foley had called her and said he had just shot his current wife in the stomach.
When officers arrived, they found the victim on the front step of the home with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery and was initially listed in critical condition.
Her name is currently being withheld.
Officers tracked down Foley on Sunnyside Drive, where they apprehended him at gunpoint.
Kalispell Police Investigations Capt. Scott Warnell said Tuesday afternoon he believed the woman had been “downgraded from critical condition.”
The hospital declined to give any information about the woman’s condition.
Warnell said the shooting was still under investigation and he could not release any more information until he conferred further with the Flathead County Attorney’s Office, which has been kept in the loop throughout the investigation.
