Raymond Lee Sanford Jr., 74

Funeral services for Raymond Lee "Pepper" Sanford Jr., 74, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be conducted at noon Thursday, Aug. 22, at First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs with the Revs. Pete Adrian and Debbie Riggsby officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. 

Mr. Sanford passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at his home. 

He was born Aug. 31, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla., to Raymond Lee and Myrtle Irene (Rinehart) Sanford. 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Stephen's Ministry and The Messenger's Class. 

He worked as director of transportation for Plum Creek Timber in Columbia Falls. 

He was married to Rosemary for 22 years, and from that union they had one son and two daughters. In June of 1981, he married Sondra "Sandy" Sanford who preceded him in death. 

He is survived by sons, Scott Sanford and wife Kimberly of Frisco, Texas, and Sam Carter and wife Sabrina of Mesquite, Texas; daughters, Suzanne Sanford of Dallas, and Stephanie Kaufert and husband Bobby of Sulphur Springs, Texas; sister, SueAnn Darling, and husband, Cliff, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandchildren, Tanner Hux, Kyle Hux, Alex Hux, Kelsey Kaufert, Cameron Kaufert, John Bug Carter, Luke Carter and Jason Carter. 

In addition to his wife Sandy, he was also preceded in death by his parents, and son Joe Carter.
