Road rage heats up during tourist season
A case of road rage was reported to Kalispell Police Department by a woman who said that after she accidentally pulled in front of a vehicle with a male driver on U.S. 93 N., the male driver reportedly sped up and acted as if he was going to hit her car. She then pulled up alongside him and asked, “if he would like to apologize.” She said the male driver stated, “go back to California where you came from, [expletive],” in front of her daughter. She asked if officers could talk to the male about “cursing people in front of their children.”
A passerby reported a man walking down the street of 9th Street E. and 4th Avenue W. with a handgun sticking out of the back of his pants.
Someone’s vehicle was broken into and the stereo stolen in the parking lot of a bar on U.S. 93 S.
An employee of a business on 1st Avenue E.N. reported that a van parked in a handicapped spot and a female driver left a cart full of garbage. The employee said this is an ongoing issue.
A man on 1st Avenue W. reported to police that he received a phone call from a woman who said something about domestic violence and hung up. When he called back, a man answered and said the woman was drunk and “lightly” stabbed herself in the arm twice but did not need medical attention. The couple was separated and the woman was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
Revelers around a pit fire were reported by a resident on Kenway Drive who was concerned the fire may not be properly contained and would start a fire in an adjacent vacant field.
A kayak was reported stolen off a vehicle at a business on U.S. 93 S. The manager of the business agreed to forward any video surveillance of the theft.
Medicines and change were stolen from a vehicle on 3rd St. E.
After hearing a girl screaming for roughly an hour, and then a man screaming at children in an apartment building on 3rd Avenue E., a neighbor reported the noise disturbance to officers.
A woman reported from Cooper Lane that someone was knocking on her door and moaning, but couldn’t see anyone out her window. She said she heard the knocks every one to two minutes for over an hour. A man with head wounds was later found. The man said he didn’t know what happened to him and didn’t want medical help.
A woman reported that a man refused to leave her residence on Cooper Lane and had earlier tried to choke her with his hands. The couple were separated. The woman said she was not injured and did not want to file charges.
A manager of a business reported that a package containing a piece of art valued at $3,000 was delivered to the wrong residence on 2nd Avenue W.N. The manager reported that the resident denied the package was left there.
Someone reported that a dead cat may have been killed by a vehicle or strangulation from a rope tied around its neck on Three Mile Drive and N. Meridian Road.
Someone on 6th Avenue W. reported their neighbors driving across a sidewalk to get into their yard believing this was unsafe.
A disgruntled customer reported that he paid a clerk $20 for gas at a business on U.S. 93 S., but the clerk typed in the wrong pump number and a different person used the credit to pump the gas. The customer said the clerk refused to do anything about the situation. The customer said they would talk with the manager the next day.
An honest father reported that his son stole a laptop and two iPods from a sports field on 2nd Avenue W. and that he would turn over the property into police.
A teen shoplifter wearing a hoodie and blue jeans was trespassed from a business on U.S. 93 S and returned to his parents.
An intoxicated man had to be controlled by a bouncer at a business on U.S. 93 S. after he ran into a vehicle and damaged it. The drunk suspect then threatened to knife the person who called in the report.
Whitefish Police Department received a report from a woman on Kalispell Avenue that she was receiving threatening text messages that had references to shooting and assaulting her.
A resident near Ashar Avenue called to report that a man, possibly a transient, had parked on a dead end street for a couple of days and was throwing his trash out on a sidewalk and leaving his dog inside the vehicle while it was hot outside.
A group of possible transients were taking advantage of free Wi-Fi on Spokane Avenue. They were advised that there was no camping and to not leave a mess behind.
The customer isn’t always right in a case where counterfeit money was reported from a business on U.S. 93 S. when someone called to report a woman tried to use a fake $20 bill, took it back and left stating she would use it somewhere else.
