More resources needed to search for missing boaters
POLSON (AP) — Authorities searching for two men missing in Flathead and Placid lakes say more equipment and manpower are needed.
Lake County authorities searching Flathead Lake for 36-year-old Nathan Bird of Huson are bringing in a sonar device with a camera and a grabbing mechanism arriving from Idaho.
Lake County sheriff’s spokeswoman Karen Sargeant said Tuesday the device will allow searchers to probe deeper in the lake.
Bird’s boat was found adrift Sunday in an area of the lake more than 100 feet deep.
Sargeant says the equipment should arrive Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Missoula County authorities say there isn’t enough manpower for now to continue their search of Placid Lake for a Great Falls man who went missing Friday.
Volunteer groups are expected to resume the search for DelRay Saeman on Friday.
