The Kalispell man who was arrested after setting a trailer on fire when deputies showed up to arrest him on outstanding warrants is facing three charges in Flathead District Court.

Daniel Lee English, 40, is charged with felony arson and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

According to a court document, English was seen entering the 1584 Trumble Creek Road trailer with a gasoline can as deputies approached, and he yelled that he was going to burn down the trailer.

A deputy reportedly watched him pour gasoline throughout the trailer before lighting it, sending flames throughout the home.

English’s neighbor, who owns the trailer he set ablaze, had to be evacuated from her trailer due to the proximity of the fire.

Firefighters rescued a dog from the home and were able to give it oxygen using a special domestic pet oxygen mask recently donated to the department.

A family member said Friday that the dog is doing well, but a pair of kittens were lost in the fire.

If convicted of all three charges, English faces up to a year in the county jail, 20 years in prison, and a fine of up to $51,000.

English is currently incarcerated in the Flathead County Detention Center, where his bond is set at $35,000. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19.Daily Inter Lake
