Trapped horse at risk of injury

The Creston Fire Department responded to a Lake Blaine Road barn after a horse got into the barn and stepped into a snowmobile, trapping its leg behind a steel bar and the snowmobile. The owner was afraid the horse would break its leg, especially if law enforcement responded with their sirens on and spooked the animal. The horse was eventually freed.


A Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to Willow Glen Drive after a resident reported hearing a woman crying across the street, saying she needed help and screaming “help me.” The deputy found the woman and then dropped her off at her Whalebone Drive home, despite having to drive the length of the road and back before she could find her house.

A man reported someone was spotlighting his truck at an Ardell Drive home, the resident of which had seen the same vehicle sitting in front of the home at 2 a.m. on another recent night.

A man who traded his all-terrain vehicle to another man in exchange for a pickup truck reported the man to whom he traded the ATV still had both vehicles and was refusing to speak with him.

A person in a truck with a camper was advised to move along and get new license plates after it was reported that someone might be camping in the vehicle, which was parked in the back parking lot of a U.S. 2 East business.

A dead cow was dropped off on a McMannamy Draw property for no apparent reason.

A Montana 206 resident reported tracks in the snow and the belief that someone was casing the property.

A black-clad, black-haired teenage boy accompanied by a teenage girl escaped a U.S. 2 East store with several Blu-ray Discs.

A thief in the night siphoned gas from and disconnected the battery to a truck on Lake Blaine Road.


Kalispell Police Department officers responded to a Rosewood Drive apartment building after a resident reported her upstairs neighbors were being very loud and keeping her awake. The neighbors were found to be just sitting around talking, but said they would try to be more considerate.

A black Labrador/collie mix was picked up by an animal control officer after running around barking at patrons in front of an East Idaho Street store for about an hour.

The Empire Loop parent of a 10-year-old girl reported the girl was receiving inappropriate calls.

A postal worker reported an aggressive dog jumping at carriers and going after another dog on 10th Avenue West.

A woman who seemed drunk, stumbling down Woodland Avenue, was reported to police by a concerned passerby who said she “didn’t look to be dressed for the cold weather.”


A man contacted the Whitefish Police Department to assist him in getting his car back from a Baker Avenue property after it appeared that his brother had wrecked the vehicle — again.

A thankful resident dropped off holiday goodies at the police station to show appreciation for the officers’ good services.


A BNSF representative contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after an engineer saw two people lying on one of the sets of tracks.

A man reported his truck stolen from behind a Third Street West property after leaving the keys in it. He also noted it was parked in an area where “lots of people have access to it.”

A 12th Avenue West resident called to complain about his neighbors, who were screaming obscenities at one another.
