McKenzie 'Mac' Cecil Holm, 49

| December 10, 2013 8:00 PM

McKenzie “Mac” Cecil Holm, 49, of Columbia Falls “went to be with the Lord” on Dec. 7, 2013.

Mac was born in Whitefish on Sept. 12, 1964, and lived in Columbia Falls his entire life. Mac was the youngest of four children born to Faye and Carl Holm.

Mac married the love of his life, Denise Ann Berta, on Sept. 26, 1992. They have three children KC, 17, Montana, 15, and Hailie, 10.

At a very young age, Mac learned the importance of hard work. As a teenager, his first job was cutting and stacking posts, and after graduating high school, he went to work at Plum Creek. Mac later bought a semi-truck and ran his own business. After his second kidney transplant, Mac worked a year at the aluminum plant and then returned to work at the Plum Creek plywood plant.

Throughout his life, Mac cut numerous loads of firewood, plowed snow and recycled scrap metal for extra money. He was a great provider and took pride in supporting his family.

Mac had a love for NHRA drag racing, snow-catting, four-wheeling and hunting. He enjoyed any activity outdoors.

Mac was an avid Columbia Falls Wildcat fan and attended many local sporting events, especially his children’s events and basketball games. Mac always put his family first and was a devoted husband and excellent dad and role model to his children.

Mac had an excellent smile and sense of humor that will be missed by all. He enjoyed visiting with others and sharing life experiences. Mac liked to keep life simple but was wise to so many things. He was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors anytime he could.

Mac was a member of the Fellowship Alliance Church, a former member of the Stingray Bike Club (at the age of 9) and the swim team.

Mac had been living with kidney failure since he was a young adult. He had two kidney transplants and was waiting for a third at the time of his passing. He supported organ donation and understood the importance of being a donor and how it can benefit others.

Mac was preceded in death by his father, Carl Holm; grandfather, Oscar Holm; grandmother, Evelyn Paradis; grandfather, Edwin McKenzie; grandmother, Laura McKenzie; and cousin, Ruppert Minckler.

Mac is survived by his wife, Denise, his son, KC, and his daughters, Montana and Hailie, all of Columbia Falls; his mother, Faye Holm; sisters, Laura and Scott Prichard and Carla Holm; brother, Gene and Cheri Holm; father- and mother-in-law, James and Marie Berta, of Columbia Falls; sister and brother-in-law, Greg and Elizabeth Mutzenberger of Missoula; brother-in-law, Bob Berta, of Columbia Falls; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, including Sarah and Gary Pemble, Scott and Jennelle Cassidy, Rich and Helen Samples, Sean and Kim White, Ed and Nichole Bechtel, Dev and Bonnie Stutsman, and Steve and Merla Barta.

There will be a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.

A funeral service for McKenzie Holm will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Richard’s Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls. There will be a celebration of life at Fellowship Alliance Church in Columbia Falls following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, if anyone would like to make a monetary donation to the Holm family to help with expenses, you can do so at any Park Side Federal Credit Union in the name of Denise or Mac Holm.

Thank you in advance for your love and caring in this time of need.
