Fire destroys Columbia Falls home
An early morning fire destroyed a Columbia Falls home on Wednesday.
Fire Chief Rick Hagen said the split-level, single-family home at 915 Tamarack Lane was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene around 5 a.m.
While they were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes, saving the garage and a vehicle parked next to the home, it was a total loss.
“The first person that noticed the fire reported the house as being ‘gone,’” Hagen said.
He said he contacted the homeowner, who was out of town, and confirmed that there was no one inside the home at the time of the fire.
Mop-up of the fire continued for several hours. The cause is not yet known and the fire remains under investigation.
