Elizabeth 'Betsy' Arcand Kaye, 52

Elizabeth “Betsy” Arcand Kaye “went to be with the Lord” on Dec. 15, 2013, at her home in Bigfork; she was 52 years old.

She was born in Aberdeen, S.D., on Aug. 30, 1961, the daughter of LaVonne and Robert Arend.

Betsy spent her younger years in South Dakota and then moved to Minnesota where she attended the College of St. Benedicts, Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota; she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and sociology, and her Master of Arts degree as a rehabilitation counselor.

Betsy married her husband Joseph Kaye on April 20, 2002. Soon after, they moved to the Flathead area, residing in Bigfork.

She had been a wellness coach and swim instructor at The Summit for the past six years.

Betsy had many hobbies, almost all of them involving water. Her and Joe’s favorite was riding their jet skis on Flathead Lake. She also enjoyed reading, hunting, playing soccer, swimming (even in the winter) and spending time with her kids and pets.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVonne and Robert Arend; and her husband, Joseph Kaye.

She is survived by her children, Heather Anderson, Samantha Arcand, Nathan Arcand and Jason Arcand.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Bartholomew of the Stillwater Free Lutheran Church officiating.
