Frequent DUI offender enters guilty plea
A Kalispell man has pleaded guilty to felony drunk driving for his fifth DUI offense.
Andrew Burrows, 42 was charged after he was found sitting in his parked car on Nov. 22 on Bison Circle Drive. A sheriff’s deputy said Burrows displayed many signs of intoxication.
Burrows failed field sobriety test and refused to provide a breath sample.
His prior drunk-driving and related convictions came in September 1993, January 1997, December 1998 and February 2002. Burrows was most recently sentenced on May 27, 2005, to two years of incarceration followed by 10 years suspended after violating the conditions of his previous drunk driving sentence and being convicted of felony criminal endangerment.
Despite a court document indicating the conviction is Burrows’ fifth DUI, the Department of Corrections’ Correctional Offender Network says he was convicted in 2003 and again in 2007, which would mean the new conviction is at least his sixth DUI.
Burrows faces between 13 months and five years with the Montana Department of Corrections and a fine of $1,000 to $10,000 when he is sentenced Jan. 23.
