Mat Cats 4th in Class A wrestling poll

Columbia Falls is ranked fourth and Polson seventh in this week’s Class A wrestling poll, released Wednesday.

The Wildcats’ Shonn Roberts, a two-time state champion, is ranked first at 126 pounds, the only local wrestler to head his weight class. Bryan Shaffer, ranked second at 152, leads a pack of 11 other Columbia Falls wrestlers in the rankings.

In fourth place are Eli Scheeler (98), Zane Brunz (145), Cody Walters (160), Andrew Burgess (195), Mikey Dennison (220) and Spencer Ross (285).

Cameron Goodwin (113) and Kaleb Gravelin (120) are ranked fifth and Manny Guzman is sixth at 98.

Polson has 10 athletes ranked in the poll, with Mike Corrigan (195) and Dylan Moll (138) ranked third. Taylor Motrin is fourth at 113 and Jared Young (145), Warren Wood (152), Tel Motichka (170), Tele Seeman (182) and Isaiah Williams (220) are all fifth. Jaben Wenzel (120) and Carlos Quinones (132) are sixth.

Libby’s Zach Crace is second at 138 pounds and Greenchain teammate Garret Chapel is second at 170. Whitefish’s Steve Quimby is sixth at heavyweight.
