Early morning fire damages Kalispell home
A fire at a Kalispell home caused $35,000 in damage early Thursday morning.
A passing motorist called 911 to report the fire at 127 Cally Lane at 2:10 a.m.
When Kalispell Fire Department crews arrived, they found a fire outside had spread into the attic. The residents had already escaped and a man was outside throwing buckets of water on the fire trying to put it out.
Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly.
Fire Chief Dave Dedman said the fire may have been caused by a heating lamp set up in a chicken coop next to the home. The interior of the house suffered minimal damage, but there was extensive damage to the outside of the home, the deck and the attic.
No one was injured.
Assistance was provided by Evergreen Fire Rescue, Kalispell Police, Flathead Electric Cooperative and NorthWestern Energy.
