More records, trophy for Glacier swim at state

HARDIN — Glacier followed through with another record-setting performance, and in the process, picked up its first state swimming trophy on Saturday at the 45th annual state championships.

Glacier placed second in the boys AA team standings with a 166 1/2-point total. Helena High took the title with a 179 score.

Billings Skyview was third, 162.

Class A Billings Central had the overall top score, 189.

“It came down to the wire,” Flathead/Glacier coach Dave Lillard said.

“It was really exciting, went back and fourth.”

Glacier, which set five school records on Friday in the preliminaries, came back with six new school marks on the final day.

Setting individual records weree Jessica Stenberg, Makenna Siebenaler, Jordan Loyda and Joshua Loyda.

Jordan Loyda won the 50 freestyle

The two Loydas, Logan Streit and Jake Cirincione set new school marks in winning the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Flathead’s Cassie Krueger was fourth in the 50 freestyle.

“They swam hard today,” Lillard said of Flathead and Glacier swimmers.

“Everyone. The atmosphere was so incredible. It was intense. An exciting day. I’m really proud of our swimmers.”
