Dance, presentation at senior center
Flathead Contra Dancers will host a presentation and dance at the Kalispell Senior Center Feb. 23.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a presentation, “Jitterbugging Across the Color Line,” by author and sculptor Mark Matthews of Arlee.
Matthews will use slides, video clips, demonstration and audience participation in his presentation, which is part of hisseries, “Swinging Through History: Social Dance in America.” The program is possible thanks to Humanities Montana.
A contra dance will follow Matthews’ program, with lessons beginning at 7:30 p.m. Matthews will be the caller, and Left Sided Brains will provide the music. The dance wraps up at 10:30 p.m.
The cost for the evening is $8 for adults, $5 for students college-age and younger, and $18 for families.
This is a family-friendly event, with no smoking or alcohol. Children 10 and older are invited to join in on the dance floor.
