Dorothy Jane (Brewer) Dortch, 92

Dorothy Jane (Brewer) Dortch, born Aug. 3, 1920, in Lewistown, passed “from her earthly life into eternal life with God, our Heavenly Father” on Feb. 11, 2013, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.  

Her life of service started as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, numerous positions as a dietician in hospitals and other institutions, caregiver to her mother during her later years and as an employee and volunteer at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and active for many years in Beta Sigma Phi.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Miles Harley Brewer and Myrtle Leona Brewer; her brother, Louis G. Brewer; and her husband, Melvin E. Dortch.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis and David, of Kalispell, and Douglas of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the same location. Internment services with military honors at Glacier Memorial Gardens will follow the memorial service.

Dorothy and family request donations be made to the Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry in Evergreen or BigSkyHonorFlight.org, in lieu of flowers.
