MCAA Tournament: Stillwater boys escape upset in OT

HELENA — The Stillwater Christian boys scored 12 points in the extra session to avoid an upset, beating Billings Christian 61-57 in the first round of the Montana Christian Athletic Association state basketball tournament on Thursday at Carroll College in Helena.

Josh Bray scored 20 points for the Cougars, who staved off elimination despite scoring just 11 points in the second half of regulation. 

Noah Hashley scored 14 points for Stillwater.

The Cougars advance to play Foothills Community Christian, the top seed from the East, in the semifinals at 9 p.m. today.

Josh Jarvis recorded a triple-double as Flathead Valley Homeschool hammered Heritage Christian in the first round.

Jarvis finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists.

Jake Van Buren led FVHS with 21 points and Nick Peterson, Ryland Carlson and Josiah Sheeran also reached double-figures, scoring 15, 13 and 10 points respectively. Sheeran also grabbed 13 rebounds.
