Man pleads not guilty to stabbing
A 33-year-old Whitefish man pleaded not guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to felony assault with a weapon after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and trying to stab her brother.
According to a court document, Michael Olivo first hit his girlfriend, giving her a black eye. Later that day, he tried to stab the hood and tires of her vehicle with two large kitchen knives before charging her brother and stabbing him in the chest with one of the knives, which did not penetrate his skin.
Olivo allegedly kept swinging the knives wildly, causing the brother to sustain several cuts to his arm, hand, stomach and head.
If convicted, Olivo faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. His next hearing is scheduled for May 8.
