Man's body found in river
The search for a Whitefish man missing since Tuesday turned tragic Friday when his body was found in the Whitefish River.
The body of 25-year-old John Marshall Denny was located in three feet of water about 200 yards east of the Columbia Avenue Bridge.
Family members reported Denny missing on Thursday, noting he was off his medication for bipolar disorder, Asperger syndrome and attention deficit hyperactive disorder.
Officers initially contacted Denny’s friends and co-workers, as well as searching areas he was known to frequent.
Denny’s body was finally located after a helicopter was brought in to search the river. Whitefish police were aided in their search by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and Flathead County Search and Rescue.
The death remains under investigation, but foul play is not believed to be involved.
