Shawnn Rene Hoye, 53
Shawnn Rene Hoye died at his family home on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
Shawnn was born in Peru, Ind., on Nov. 3, 1959, to Ron and Anita Hoye. He was their only child. The family moved to Kalispell where Shawnn entered the second grade at Hedges School. He participated in Boy Scouts, sports, band, gymnastics and the Epworth United Methodist Church group. Shawnn developed a love for mountain climbing in Glacier National Park. Summers were often spent hiking and camping, and enjoying Glacier. Winters were spent cross-country skiing and other winter sports.
After graduation from Flathead High School Shawnn received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in electrical engineering. His work career began in San Jose, Calif., where he worked for a number of years. There he met and married Laletta Fletcher, and the couple became parents of Jonathan, now of Atlanta, and Janean, who lives in Chico, Calif. Shawnn divorced and later moved back to Kalispell. He worked at a variety of jobs here and met and married Helen Keil. They had a daughter, Serena. They also divorced and Shawnn moved back to California.
Most recently Shawnn has lived in Helena until he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Ron and Anita brought him back to their home in Kalispell where it was determined that his cancer was terminal. Shawnn’s family and friends did not have a lot of time to enjoy his companionship, wit and considerable knowledge, but the time we did have was quality time. Shawnn will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He touched a lot of lives with his pleasant nature.
Shawnn was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
He is survived by his children, Jonathan of Atlanta, Janean and grandson Joshua of Chico, and Serena of Kalispell. He is also survived by his parents, Ron and Anita Hoye.
