Artist offers drawing class
A Columbia Falls artist will offer a weekly drawing class starting in March.
Portrait artist Joli Hailey will teach How to Draw Like You Have Always Wanted from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evenings starting March 4. The class, which is open to teenagers and adults, will take place at Joli Art Studio, 1959 Conn Road, off Montana 40 in Columbia Falls.
The class will teach people to create drawings that are true to live.
“If you have ever attempted to draw and found yourself frustrated and unable to ‘capture’ your subject, this drawing class is for you,” Hailey says.
The class will work on the fundamentals of representational drawing, and cover how to create the illusion of three dimensions in a two-dimensional plane. Students will explore value, line, form and the use of light to create the illusion of depth and perspective. Students will also explore the basic concepts of proportion and measuring to create accurate renderings.
“This drawing class will either hone the drawing skills you already have or teach you drawing skills you have always wanted,” Hailey says. “If you are already engaged in painting, this class will give you the skills you need and allow for more flexibility and creativity in your work.”
The cost is $25 per class or $80 per month. Call Hailey at 885-6085 to register in advance.
Hailey is a graphic designer as well as a portrait artist. She has drawn portraits of people and pets at Flathead Valley art fairs for the past 20 years.
