Knitting, felting classes at Camas Creek
<p>Trish Peebles will teach knitters to make this scarf at a class March 4 at Camas Creek Yarn.</p>
In addition to its regular daily knitting and crochet sessions, Camas Creek Yarn offers several special classes in March:
• Trish Peebles teaches an Entrelac scarf class from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Previous experience knitting and purling is suggested. The scarf is easier to make than it looks. Cost is $20.
• Peebles teaches a Bermuda shawl class from 6 to 8 p.m. March 8 and 15. The shawl is perfect for summer: colorful and lacy. The $20 class is suitable for advanced beginning knitters, who will learn to work short rows and increase and decrease in this session.
• Debbie Arnold teaches a beaded fingerless mitts class in two classes. Take the class from 4 to 6 p.m. March 18 and April 1 or from 6 to 8 p.m. March 21 and April 4.
Cost is $30 for this class, which is suitable for advanced beginners (those with solid knit, purl, cast on and bind off skills). Learn to knit in the round, knit a thumb gusset, add beads and knit lace from a chart in this session.
• Arnold teaches a forest canopy shawl class in two sessions. Take the class from 4 to 6 p.m. March 25 and April 8 or from 6 to 8 p.m. March 28 and April 11. Like the mitts class, this is a session for advanced beginners.
This is a great first lace pattern. Learn to read a lace chart and read your knitting.
• Arnold teaches All About Yarn from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 2. No experience is necessary for this class, which is for knitters who have ever wondered how to substitute yarn in a pattern or the best way to use the skein sitting in their stash.
Felters, never fear: Camas Creek has classes for you, too.
• The Magic of Felt: Art Purse takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 8. The class costs $65.
Students must know how to lay fiber. In this class, they will learn to make an artistic felted purse using a resist.
• The Magic of Felt: Nuno Scarf will be offered in two classes: from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 16 or March 23. No experience is necessary to take this $45 class.
The elegant Nuno felted scarf uses silk fabric and Merino wool.
