Trumbull Creek flood planning completed
A plan to reduce flooding along Trumbull Creek will be outlined at a public meeting on Monday.
The Flathead Conservation District has been working on a solution to flooding problems along a one-mile manmade stretch of Trumbull Creek from U.S. 2 west of Columbia Falls downstream to where it crosses U.S. 2 north of Walsh Road.
The necessary studies and measurements are complete and an effective plan to help reduce flood frequency has been developed.
In a nutshell, the work would include bank repair and removing excess sediment and vegetation from the stream channel, said Patti Mason, outreach and watershed coordinator for the Conservation District.
Permits for the corrective action are pending, she said.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Flathead Electric Cooperative community room at 2510 U.S. 2 East. Go to the far north entrance on the building where there is an arch with the words “Community Room” in bold lettering.
