Fireworks keep cops hopping
Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to several fireworks calls or calls that turned out to be fireworks between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
— At 3:30 p.m. Monday, a group of teenagers were reported setting off fireworks in Herron Park.
— At 4:22 p.m. Monday, sparkler bombs were reported going off near East Evergreen Drive.
— At 7:42 p.m. Monday, an elderly Cougar Trail woman in Whitefish reported someone knocking on her window, but it was determined to be vibrations from fireworks.
— At 7:57 p.m. Monday, an Interstate Lane resident was reported for lighting off fireworks and scaring other residents.
— At 9:02 p.m. Monday, a motorist reported someone threw a firecracker on their truck while on South Hilltop Road and believed there were children in the area throwing fireworks at other passing vehicles.
— At 9:40 p.m. Monday, A Park Avenue resident reported someone threw fireworks onto their porch and shared concern that the culprits might do it to another house and that it was a fire hazard.
— At 12:23 a.m. Tuesday, a Willow Glen Drive man reported his neighbors were shooting off rifles, but it turned out to be fireworks.
A Birch Grove Road woman reported her son got jumped at a house behind a U.S. 2 business north of Kalispell. Her son required an ambulance due to having sustained a broken nose and a cut lip and having his head “pounded in.” Police were told the son’s girlfriend was the one that planned the assault and that all of the people were on drugs. The son was drunk at the time of reporting the crime and did not want to press charges.
A Kalispell man reported a suspicious man who knocked on his door at 5 a.m., said his car had broken down and asked for a crowbar. The resident didn’t give anything to the man, who then got into a white Cadillac with blacked out windows and drove away.
A Hungry Horse woman reported a man in town had been selling methamphetamine to children in town.
A motorist reported someone in a gold-colored sport utility vehicle pulled behind his or her car on Woodland Avenue and shined a red and blue flashing light. The motorist pulled over and the other driver passed them and took off. The motorist tried to chase the vehicle but lost it.
A Helena Flats Road resident reported his neighbor threatened to beat him up and tried to punch him three times.
A man suffered a cut above his eye when he was hit with a beer bottle on Haskill Basin Road in Whitefish.
A West Evergreen Drive woman reported her ex threw her down and smashed her face into the ground. She said she was not bleeding but that her face was swollen.
An errant aluminum trailer wheel came rolling from U.S. 93, down a hill and through two yards before coming to rest in a Ridgewood Drive yard in Lakeside.
A U.S. 2 East woman in Kalispell reported her ex-boyfriend was making threats and trying to kick in her door.
A woman was arrested following a verbal disturbance on Willow Glen Drive.
A man was arrested after hitting his girlfriend in the head on Gordon Avenue.
A man was arrested after reportedly pushing his girlfriend down the stairs on Zimmerman Road.
An underage drinking party was reported on Karrow Avenue in Whitefish.
A runner at a U.S. 2 East casino in Kalispell found a baggie containing white crystals after seeing several people acting very suspiciously.
Someone broke into a Blankenship Road cabin in West Glacier, caused roughly $500 worth of damage to window screens and stole several items.
Nearly $300 worth of snowboard boots and bindings were stolen from a truck on Lakeshore Drive in Lakeside.
The Kalispell Police Department received many complaints about fireworks between Monday night and Tuesday morning, responding to calls on Cedar Commons Lane, Greatview Drive, Eighth Avenue West, Fifth Avenue East, Seventh Avenue West, Coot Court, First Avenue West, Second Avenue East and Ninth Avenue West.
Gunshots were reported in the area of Kalispell Center Mall, Eighth Avenue East and Ashley Drive
Officers were unable to determine if minors were drinking at a Fifth Avenue East apartment after a downstairs neighbor reported what they believed to be a party including alcohol and attended by people they knew to be underage.
A woman who is eight weeks pregnant was pulled to the ground and punched on Airport Road, suffering a cut on her arm and a bruise on her face.

A group of three people had a longer elevator ride than they expected Monday afternoon when their elevator stalled in a Windward Way medical office. The trio were fine, but spent about five minutes stuck inside the elevator until it could be reset.
A prolific reckless driver was reported to the Whitefish Police Department by several concerned motorists Tuesday. The small, white compact car was reported driving north in the southbound lane of U.S. 93 before hitting a snowbank. It was later reported traveling down the middle of the road in front of Whitefish State Park.
An East Second Street building was trashed Tuesday by a burglar who vandalized the candy and pop machines, ripped a thermostat off the wall and damaged the breaker box.
