Kids' classes offered at Stumptown Art Studio
Stumptown Art Studio will begin its winter session of Stumptown Art Academy Monday.
The program, which began last fall, is a fully academic educational program focusing on fine arts. Certified instructors will teach core subject areas in math, social studies, language arts and Spanish through the visual arts.
Art Academy serves students ages 3 to 9 through the preschool and supplemental home-school program.
Mondays and/or Wednesdays are for preschool children ages 3 to 5. That class runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Students bring their lunch for three hours of art-based learning and fun.
Art en Español for students in kindergarten through fourth grade is on Thursdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. In this class, the Spanish language is taught through art, music and movement. Students create art, learn songs, read books and play games all while being exposed to Spanish.
Fantastic Fridays offer a variety of art experiences for students. Children in kindergarten through fourth grade attend from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and fifth- through eighth-graders attend from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
