Robert H. 'Bob' Crane, 87
Robert H. “Bob” Crane died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in Atlanta, Ga., following complications from a stroke he suffered on Friday, Dec. 28.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 30 at the home of Charles Crane.
Bob was born in Los Angeles to James “Jack” and Mildred Crane in 1925.
He married Ruste McCoy in 1951 and had three sons, Charles of Atlanta, Robert of Sacramento, Calif., and Thad of Cut Bank.
Ruste preceded him in death in 1986.
He is survived by his sons; longtime friend, Myrtle Cagle, of Whitefish; and grandchildren, Robert L. Crane of Haiku, Hawaii, Jane and Meghyn Crane of Pickerington, Ohio, Pamela Crane of Nashville, Tenn., Matthew Crane of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Chris Crane of Atlanta; and great-grandchildren Liam of Atlanta, Jane of Pickerington, and Dalton and Ashley of Haiku.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After the war he worked for his parents' lumber yard in Joshua Tree, Calif., for several years before joining the U.S. Air Force, retiring in Great Falls in 1969.
He moved to Whitefish in 1975, until he moved to Cut Bank in 1996.
He was an avid shooter and gunsmith as well as fisherman. He moved to Atlanta in early 2012 and resided in an Alzheimer's residential home until his death.
