Several Windows on Whitefish classes in January

| January 2, 2013 5:30 PM

Community members are invited to get involved with the Windows on Whitefish project at Stumptown Art Studio.

The nonprofit studio launched the WOW project a year ago to give the public an opportunity to create art that will be on display in their community. WOW involves creating a four-panel mosaic depicting Whitefish in each of the four seasons. The first mosaic, “Spring,” is finished, and work has begun on the second panel, “Summer.”

Learn the art of mosaic-making from instructor Deb Stika. Stika’s class, which costs $65, involves creating and grouting a mosaic fish.

Once people take a fish class, they may work on the summer panel. Community sessions and grout sessions are free to those who have paid for a mosaic class.

All classes and workshop sessions are held at the old Coldwell Banker Building, 105 Baker Ave. Preregistration with payment is required to reserve a spot to make a mosaic fish. The class is appropriate for ages 16 and up.
