Driver hitting owl wasn't a hoot
A man contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after hitting an owl with his car. The owl, still alive, became lodged in the grill. He believed the owl was dying and had planned to remove it after it died, but the driver was concerned the owl may be a protected or endangered species and wanted it logged that he had not killed it intentionally.
A Splendid View Drive man fed up with his neighbors shooting into a dirt berm told dispatchers that if the neighbor “shoots off one more round, this is war, and I will fire back.” The three men shooting were found to be doing so safely and had stopped for the day by the time deputies arrived.
A package delivery driver reported that a Whispering Pines Lane man in Whitefish, who was upset about his dog chasing the delivery truck, threatened to put a bullet in the driver’s head if the truck ran over his dog.
Someone burglarized a West Reserve Drive business, prying open an office door, pulling out a safe and prying it open before escaping with its contents.
A woman was arrested on a warrant on Wishart Road.
Kalispell Police Department responded twice to a Ninth Avenue West property after a woman reported her extremely drunk ex-boyfriend was pounding on the door and trying to get in. He later returned, claiming he was looking for his phone, and she put his belongings outside the house. Both times, he was gone by the time police arrived.
A Ninth Avenue West man called to say he missed his court date because his son was sick. He was worried he would be arrested for his outstanding warrant.
A Vanderbilt Drive resident reported hearing a prowler outside her home at night and finding footprints outside her patio door the following morning.

A woman was brought to the attention of the Whitefish Police Department by a bartender after she hit several vehicles in the bar’s Baker Avenue parking lot.
A far-out guy called the Columbia Falls Police Department to say he was tripping on mushrooms after having taken them six hours prior, was suicidal and wanted to go to jail. He was transported to the Kalispell Regional Medical Center instead.
