Girls basketball roundup: Bravettes beat Big Sky
MISSOULA — Flathead used a balanced offensive attack to down Missoula Big Sky 58-44 in Western AA girls basketball action on Saturday.
Emily Russell led the Bravettes scoring parade with 14 points. Jenessa Heine followed with 13.
Jessika Abbrescia and Emma Andrews finished with 11 and 10, respectively.
According to the Missoulian, it was Flathead’s first victory at Big Sky since 2001.
Flathead (3-2 overall, 1-1 league) cashed in at the free throw line, sinking 30 of 42 shots. The Bravettes were 13 of 17 in the fourth quarter.
Big Sky was 7 of 18 from the charity line.
Flathead took the lead for good on two free throws by Heine. That put the Bravettes on top 19-18.
Big Sky’s Maddy Shaide led all scorers with 17 points.
Flathead’s next outing is a nonconference contest at Great Falls C.M. Russell on Saturday.

Hailee Bennett led the Wolfpack (3-2, 1-1) with 10 points. Cassi Hashley scored 8 and had a game-high seven rebounds.
