Ranger Kim Corette heads out before the visitor center opens to check the state of the trails at Lone Pine State Park west of Kalispell Friday morning. Corette made sure the trails were prepared for the visitors who will be making their way out there today, National Winter Trails Day. Lone Pine will offer free snowshoe rentals to visitors today, and Corette is leading a snowshoe hike at 1 p.m. There are also events to mark the day at Stillwater Mountain Lodge, the Whitefish Trail System, Glacier National Park and in the Swan Mountains.
