CMR cagers defeat Bravettes
GREAT FALLS — Diondra Denton scored 23 points to lead Great Falls C.M. Russell to a 50-37 Class AA nonconference girls basketball victory on Saturday over the Flathead Bravettes.
CMR led 23-16 at intermission and gained some more breathing room by outscoring the Bravettes 14-8 in the third quarter.
Emily Russell scored 12 points to pace Flathead (3-3). Emma Andrews was next with eight and Jenessa Heine added seven.
CMR capitalized beyond the arc, hitting seven treys. Denton had three.
Flathead had just one three-point shot.
CMR held a slight edge on the boards, 41-38, and turnovers were about the same with CMR totaling 16 to Flathead’s 17.
Jessika Abbrescia led FHS in rebounding with eight.
Denton pulled down a game-high 10.
Flathead is back on the court Tuesday at home facing Class A’s top-ranked Columbia Falls Wildkats. The Bravettes follow that with a Thursday home contest with Polson.
