Victim didn't report traffic incident

A hit-and-run accident was reported to the Kalispell Police Department by a witness after a woman in a pickup truck clipped a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Woodland Avenue. After police tracked down the woman, she told them there were two men in the intersection being “drunk and belligerent” and that she slowed down and tried to go around them, but clipped one. The woman said she stopped to check on him, but he began yelling at her and threatening her, so she drove away because she was scared of having a physical confrontation with him. As of the time police talked to the woman, they had still not been contacted by the victim.

A man calling from North Dakota reported he loaned his vehicle to a girl who took it to a steel recycler.

A man was reported driving with an open container in his vehicle on Three Mile Drive.

Jewelry was stolen from an unlocked building on South Main Street.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was drawn into both a feline fiasco and a dog dispute Wednesday.

Shortly before 7 a.m., a Plentywood Drive woman reported she left her cats with a friend who was supposed to send them to her in Alabama, but the friend sent money and refused to send the cats. Arrangements were then made for the cats to be taken to the animal shelter and shipped and for the woman to return the money.

Shortly after 3 p.m., a Kelley Road woman in Columbia Falls reported her neighbor just threatened to shoot her. The woman and the man each have dogs, which run back and forth along the fence, barking at each other. The man admitted saying “Do I need to get my .44?” after the woman made a rude comment about him and his family. They were advised to stay away from one another and call animal control if they had further problems dealing with their dogs.

A Patrick Creek Road resident complained of lower back pain after a neighbor upset about a vehicle in the resident’s shop shoved the resident against a wall. The neighbor first threw a hatchet at the resident while chopping wood, but missed, striking the wall.

A Harmony Road resident reported a family member stole and used her debit card.

A man was caught sleeping in the post office in Lakeside in a sleeping bag.

An irate man threatened to wrap his crutches around another person at a Helena Flats Road business.

A garage on Cynthia Drive was burglarized and several items taken.

A shotgun was stolen from an unlocked truck on Meadow Lake Boulevard in Columbia Falls.

An employee-related theft was reported on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

A bed and a duffel bag were stolen from an unlocked storage unit on Ash Road.


Whitefish Police Department officers arrested a woman after responding to a crash on Riverside Avenue.

A man was overheard saying he was going to come back and shoot everyone at a health-care facilityt in the face, but denied the threat when he was confronted.

The principal of an East Second Street school reported he had two youths in his office who had been caught smoking marijuana.


A motorist contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after a woman who appeared to have been drinking and “wasn’t with it” cut off another driver and hit a telephone pole on Ninth Street West.

A Nucleus Avenue man reported he was pulled over last week and that officers took his property, which he was told by his attorney he could pick up. He refused, however, to go to the police station to pick it up.

Officers arrested a man on an active warrant on Sixth Street West.


Polson Police Department officers arrested a motorist during a traffic stop on U.S. 93.

A person was arrested on a warrant on Fourth Avenue West.


The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary on Clairmont Road.

A theft from a vehicle was reported on Lavista Lane.
