Robert G. 'Bob' DeMarois

| January 18, 2013 11:45 PM

Robert G. “Bob” DeMarois passed away Jan. 15, 2013, from natural causes.

He was born July 17, 1922, in Anaconda.

After graduating high school, he served in the Army for four years, and upon leaving the military, he moved to Missoula to attend the University of Montana, receiving a degree in sociology.

He met the love of his life, Billie L. Erwin, while attending the university, and they were married July 28, 1948. They then moved to Sacramento, Calif., for a short time, but Montana was always home, and they soon returned to Missoula.

Bob worked for Onley Motors for a short time before going to work for Turmell Co. In 1957, Bob became a partner with Turmell Co., thus the start of Turmell DeMarois Co. After the passing of Bob's partner, Fred Turmell, Bob became the sole owner of what is now DeMarois Buick GMC Truck.

Bob was a past president of the Montana Automobile Dealers Association and a lifetime board member of the Montana Auto Dealers Insurance Trust.

His favorite time was spent at Flathead Lake. Some said he missed his calling as a logger as he loved to cut wood and give to his family and friends.

Bob and Billie raised six children, of whom five continue working in the dealership.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minerva DeMarois; his brother, Joseph and wife Izetta; nephew, Ivan DeMarois, and his daughter-in-law, Laurie Caras DeMarois.

Survivors include his wife, Billie; sons, Rob and wife Marie, children, Hailey and Ben; Jack; Joe and wife Jane, children, Jessica and Ben Hart, Betsy and Meri; Lew and wife Lori, children, Brenna and Wil; daughters, Susan and children Mchale and Katie; and Debbie and husband Kevin Parker, children Stevi and Maddi of Billings; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind Griz, his boxer and all-time companion.

Per his request, services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.
