Food 'borrowed' by polite bandit

A Bigfork man contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after finding a note in his Aero Lane shop that said “Sorry, I was walking and tired, so borrowed some food and water.” The man said he had heard a door slam and noticed his front door open Saturday night, but didn’t call at the time. There was a name signed on the note, but it was mostly illegible. The man said he thinks the suspect may have taken food out of the refrigerator in his shop.

An East Oregon Street resident reported a possible drug dealer down the street, where about 50 people came and went from the house each night, keeping their children up.

Someone kicked in the back door of a coffee business on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell and stole a grinder.

Someone cut the lock off a storage unit on Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell and stole a generator.

Money was stolen from a cash box on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.

A frightened motorist told Kalispell Police that a vehicle containing three or four people wearing black masks had pulled next to his car in a Hutton Ranch Road parking lot. He said the occupants rolled down the windows and then they stared at him for 15 minutes before slowly pulling away while still staring at him.

A restaurant on East Idaho Street received a counterfeit $100 bill.

A worried man contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report a white sport utility vehicle that he said had been following him for several days, including to a market the other day, which he reported. The man said he woke up shortly before midnight and saw the vehicle parked by his mailbox and that a woman inside was going through paperwork. He said it was possible she was trying to repossess his truck due to an unrelated debt.

The Kalispell Fire Department put out a truck that became engulfed in flames after the engine caught fire when the owner tried to start the vehicle in a parking lot five feet from a building on Second Avenue West.

A Franlou Park Drive woman contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after she and her 4-year-old daughter were threatened by their neighbor about a hit-and-run accident. The neighbor said she wanted to “go rounds” with the woman. An officer responded and counseled both woman, but reported a belief that the situation would continue.
