Searchers look for injured skier

Monday evening, search and rescue personnel was called out to Big Mountain to help find an injured skier believed to be out of bounds.

Someone reported a Nevada man trying to bring a loaded gun through the baggage check at Glacier Park International Airport on Sunday evening. It turned out to be a misunderstanding and the man was allowed to board his plane.

Later that evening, a Polebridge caller reported an ounce of gold stolen to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The caller said the gold is his brother’s and that the suspect admitted he had it, said he was very sorry and would return it.

Several horses loose near Spruce Park on Montana 35 were caught and put in a fenced pasture until their owner could be contacted.

Earlier in the day, a Martin City woman complained to deputies that her 10-year-old son would not stop kicking, hitting and head-butting her. When a deputy showed up at the house, the young man assured him there would not be any more problems.

A lost poodle from Helena was found and returned to its owners, who were in town visiting.

Deputies released a juvenile female to her father after she was caught stealing makeup and a movie from a store on East Idaho Street.

A caller on Whalebone Court told deputies four mailboxes were taken out by a vehicle. The caller suspected it was done by a drunk driver and not done on purpose.

An unlocked pickup was broken into on Sharon Road but nothing was taken.

A woman who did not know she had a felony warrant showed up at the jail to visit an inmate. The jail had 95 occupants at the time and the woman has medical issues, so she agreed to return Tuesday and take care of her warrant.

Dogs were seen eating a dead deer on the side of the highway near Whitefish. Animal control found the dogs and followed them back to a home on Cougar Trail where he spoke with their owner about the county’s dog ordinance.

Submersible wire was reportedly taken from a location on Cougar Trail.

Columbia Falls Police arrested a man after a Fourth Avenue West woman said he stole $700 from the house.

Sunday morning, a driver told Whitefish Police a man in a vehicle with Alabama plates flipped him off and was following him around in a parking lot.

Early Monday, a Central Avenue caller reported four to five people throwing firecrackers outside. Officers were unable to locate the people.

Polson Police arrested a shoplifter Sunday evening at a grocery store.
