Canyon gears up for Cabin Fever Days
If the winter doldrums are setting in and you’re anxious for a chance to do something a little crazy — say, bolt a bar stool to skis and slide down a hill — mark your calendars now for Cabin Fever Days.
The 35th annual event takes place Feb. 8, 9 and 10 in Martin City, Coram and Hungry Horse.
Cabin Fever Days events include the World Famous Barstool Races, in which sledders compete in steerable, nonsteerable and show class races.
The wild weekend also includes a poker run, deer races, snowshoe softball, mountain man and arm wrestling contests, pool, darts and a kids’ carnival. A number of Bad Rock Canyon venues will host live music throughout the weekend, with artists such as Moonshine Mountain, the Kenny James Miller Band, Miller Creek, Larry Myer, Rock Mountain and Dangerous slated to perform.
A free shuttle operated by Flathead-Glacier Transportation will make it easy and fun to watch or compete in the many activities. The shuttle will run Feb. 9 and 10.
All events require a Cabin Fever Days button, which may be purchased for $3 at numerous Canyon-area business, Hungry Horse Liquor and several locations in Columbia Falls. Proceeds from the button sales benefit the Canyon Kids Christmas Fun, Martin City Fire Department and Head Start.
Cabin Fever Days is presented by the Trapline Association and Gateway to Glacier — The Canyon. For a full list of activities and more information about the weekend, visit www.cabinfeverdays.com.
