Classes for kids, adults at Stumptown
Stumptown Art Studio has a new session of art offerings for children and adults running from Feb. 4 through March 1.
Stumptown Art Academy for preschool children ages 3 to 5 is on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. The program focuses on art-based education with an integrated core curriculum approach. Every month, a different artist will be studied through art, math, science, social studies and language arts.
On Thursdays, Art en Español is available for youths in kindergarten through fourth grade, and on Fantastic Fridays, two age groups meet for a wide variety of art experiences. Arts and Crafts Club takes place at Muldown School Mondays and Wednesdays.
On Tuesdays, Art Exploration for ages 3 to 5 is from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Then, after school, artists ages 9 to 12 can join in Hands on Clay to learn all about working with clay.
Wheeling Wednesdays is an opportunity for youths ages 9 to 15 to learn the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel. It is also the day for After School Arts and Crafts Club for ages 9 to 13.
From 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursdays, there is a Parent-Toddler Art Time and Surprising Sculptures after school for ages 6 to 9.
Adults can explore new ways to be creative or expand on their skills with a wide selection of workshops to choose from, including glass fusing, needle felting, altered books, Canvas and Cocktails, Clay Time, Wild Woman Wednesdays and the Cultural and Art History Club.
Deb Stika will continue to lead mosaic-making workshops in the Windows on Whitefish project this month. Those interested in participating should sign up for a mosaic fish class with Stika. Once that is complete, community members are welcome to attend free community sessions to work on the actual 6- by 9-foot mosaic panel, summer, which is the second of four panels depicting the seasons in Whitefish.
