Museum accepting Valentine's Day artwork

| January 23, 2013 7:30 PM

The Bigfork Museum of Art and History is hosting a show in honor of Valentine’s Day called Show Us a Little Love!

Everyone is invited to participate. The museum is accepting “little” pieces of art — no larger than 12 inches on the longest side for two-dimensional work, and no larger than 12 inches high, wide or deep for 3-D work.

The theme is broad: Contribute a piece that shows what you love. A favorite pet, a western Montana sunset, Glacier National Park, chocolate cake — anything you love that fits the size requirement is exactly what the museum is looking for.

Artists are asked to also submit a short story explaining why they submitted that particular piece and how they think it fits the theme.

The museum also invites artists to submit original Valentine’s Day cards. The cards should be 4 by 6 inches, 5 by 5 inches, or 5 by 7 inches.

As the museum’s way of showing a little love, the entry fee is only $5. There is no entry fee for Valentine’s Day cards.

Art students in kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to participate as well; there is no entry fee for students.

Drop-off times are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 5 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 6.

The show runs from Feb. 8 through March 9.

Entry forms are available at the museum, 525 Electric Ave., Bigfork, or on the museum’s website at www.bigforkmuseum.org. For more information, call the museum at 837-6927.
