Mat Cats split duals with Broncs, Libby
COLUMBIA FALLS — Shonn Roberts (119), Seth McCall (125), Chase Ramberg (140) and Spencer Ross (heavyweight) all won twice by pin as Columbia Falls split Northwestern A dual wrestling matches on Saturday.
Columbia Falls topped Libby 48-30, but lost to fifth-ranked Frenchtown 45-33.
“It was nice to see that we are this close with one of the better teams in the state,” Columbia Falls coach Jessie Schaeffer said.
“When our team is firing on all cylinders, we could put ourselves in a good spot come the divisional tournament. Frenchtown did a great job tonight controlling the dual.”
In the outing with Libby ...
“The kids won the dual because they stayed off their backs and when we had opportunities to pin, the kids sucked it up,” Schaeffer said.
“The turning point in the dual came from our 98-pounder Cameron Goodwin wrestling up to 105. He put himself in a scramble situation late in the third period and gave himself an opportunity to win the match and got a huge pin for the team.”
