Bigfork cattle owner shoots at wolves

A Ramsfield Road man in Bigfork told Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies he was shooting at wolves to protect his cattle after a neighbor reported someone spotlighting with a high-powered rifle.

An extremely drunk man agreed to sleep at a neighbor’s house after calling police when his girlfriend threw all his clothes out the bedroom window. The woman told deputies she was fed up with him being continually drunk and a pain, and that she was going to break up with him.

An employee of an Electric Avenue business in Bigfork reported suspicions of a teenage girl shoplifting from the store, saying the girl comes into the store almost every day and has never bought anything but always brags to people about what she gets from the store. The employee said the girl always wears a very loose sweatshirt that hides her hands and makes it hard to see if she is putting anything into her pockets.

A crafty burglar gained access to a Business Center Loop business by cutting a hole in the drywall, rifling though many items and stealing cash.

A Somers Road business owner said he was having a security system installed after someone attempted to burglarize his building for a second time, breaking a latch on a window.

A Quarter Horse Lane resident reported a full-size truck or something similar doing wheelies in the snow on the property and a neighbor’s property.

A Stoneridge Drive resident reported her son saw a vehicle in their driveway in the early morning hours Saturday shining a spotlight at their house, and that she believed the people were the suspects from other crimes that have occurred to them recently.

A person with a key to a Bay Drive rental unit in Bigfork used the bed for purposes other than sleeping, used the shower and possibly had a party.

A U.S. 2 East resident in Coram reported receiving multiple calls from a man saying obscene things.

A young man and a woman fled a U.S. 2 East business in Kalispell after attempting to shoplift, with the woman dropping her merchandise and the man resisting store security.

A pair of drunk and disorderly men who were cussing at one another were removed from the train station on Depot Street in Whitefish.

Administrators at a Northwest Lane school advised the Kalispell Police Department of possible prescription drug distribution between three students and asked the department to investigate further.

A First Avenue East North man reported his soon-to-be ex-wife called and said someone else would be picking up their son, and that when he told her she needed to do it herself, her current boyfriend said from the background of the call that he was going to come and break the man’s legs.

A First Avenue East North boy was arrested and transported to the Flathead County Juvenile Detention Center after assaulting his father and almost running over his grandmother, pushing her legs with a car.

A Fifth Avenue West woman reported a teenage boy who throws snowballs at her car and house every day after he gets out of school and said that she was afraid he would break her glass door. She called back later requesting an officer come over and “get rid” of him. An officer who responded said there was no evidence snow was being thrown at either the car or the house.

An employee at a West Center Street business reported embezzlement that occurred in April 2012.

An elderly Sixth Avenue East man reported a letter was taken from his mailbox and 75 cents was stolen from his night table.

A North Meridian Road man reported someone broke out all the windows of his vehicle.

A man was arrested and his dog impounded during a traffic stop on Second Avenue West North.

A PlayStation 3 video-game console was stolen from a Ninth Street East apartment.


A Whitefish Police Department officer and the principal of an East Second Street school counseled a 13-year-old boy after he brought a pocketknife to school. The knife was confiscated and the boy was given an in-school suspension.
