'Eggstraordinary' art needed for children's show

| January 31, 2013 10:58 AM

Elementary school children are invited to participate in the Hockaday Museum of Art’s upcoming children’s art show, the Eggstraordinary Egg.

Children in kindergarten through eighth grade who are students in museum member schools, involved in Hockaday art classes or are included in family level museum memberships are invited to take part. Kids may submit two- and three-dimensional works created during the current school year (from September through February).

Pieces should be egg-inspired drawings, paintings, collages or sculptural forms. Create realistic images or abstract art using egg shapes, patterns or 3-D forms as design elements, or use egg shells as an art medium.

Pieces selected for display will be determined by how well they represent the theme, the quality of work and available gallery space.

Eligible students may submit one piece of art, or teachers may submit art on behalf of their students. Only one entry per student will be accepted.

It is suggested that two-dimensional art be mounted on or matted with colored construction paper, but must be unframed, flat and no larger than 12 by 18 inches.

Three-dimensional art will be accepted as exhibit space allows.

All artwork must be accompanied by a completed entry form and delivered to the museum located at 302 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. The entry forms are available on the museum’s website, www.hockadaymuseum.org.

Entries will be accepted from Feb. 5 through 23. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The show will run March 1 through 30, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. March 7.
