Baseball: Twins improve to 13-1 in league

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins topped the Kalispell Lakers’ A team 5-2 in a four-inning game that was cut short after both Lakers coaches were ejected Tuesday.

The Lakers forfeited the contest, which officially counts as a 9-0 win for the Twins (26-11 overall, 13-1 conference).

Shane Marcial, Jake Slaybaugh and Colton Gove each had RBIs for the Twins.

Glacier pitcher Brandon Maassen struck out five in four innings.

EUREKA — The Glacier Twins scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning of game one to rally from a 5-4 deficit against the Kootenai Valley Rangers.

Brandon Maassen drew a walk and Hugh Ramlow doubled to spark the sixth-inning rally. Jason Newbury scored the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk four batters later.

Bret Almos shut down the Rangers in game two of the doubleheader, allowing one unearned run on five hits in six innings. He tallied five strikeouts without issuing a walk.

Kyler Howke and Hugh Ramlow each batted 2 for 3 in the nightcap.
