Platke leads golf tourney at Whitefish Lake
WHITEFISH — Whitefish’s Reed Platke shot a 65 to top the leaderboard on the opening day of the Whitefish Lake Golf Course 4th of July Tournament Thursday.
Platke leads Kramer Hickok of Plano, Texas, and Brock Robillard of Calgary, Alberta, by one stroke.
Missoula’s Tom Swanson, winner of the high school Class B state title, is tied for sixth with Whitefish’s Gary Rodman after both carded 69s.
Whitefish’s Conor Rooney and Dave Moberg are tied for 10th, six shots back of the leader, Whitefish’s Shawn Tucker is seven shots back and Whitefish’s Brad Grattan is eight back.
Great Falls’ Morgan Lee and Missoula’s Lindsay Reeve are co-leaders in the women’s tournament after both shot 72.
Libby’s Jackie Mee, a junior on Carroll College’s women’s golf team, is one stroke back.
Kalispell’s Teigan Avery, the Class AA high school runner-up, is fourth after shooting a 75. Missoula’s Maggie Crippen, the Class B high school state champion, is fifth.
Whitefish’s Chelsea Ray is eight shots behind the leader while Whitefish’s Kathy Dodd is 10 strokes back.
